  • Dave Clarke: Klinch at the Melkweg Amsterdam
    04 May, 2013 news

While the whole of The Netherlands celebrated the very last Queen's Night in its existence and the installment of the new Dutch King, Dave Clarke and his peers celebrated eight hours of non-stop techno in a packed Melkweg venue (Amsterdam).

After eight consecutive, sold out Amsterdam Dance Event editions at the Melkweg, this mother of all Amsterdam clubs hosted yet another edition of the Dave Clarke Presents event concept on Queen's Night Monday 29th April 2013. Dave Clarke Presents reflects Clarke's versatile and progressive musical taste, always on a quest to find the right balance between established names and upcoming talent.

For this edition, the Briton again managed to compose an impressive line-up featuring Cari Lekebusch, Paul Ritch (live), Steve Rachmad, Perc, Delta Funktionen, Estroe, Mr.Jones and Mirella Kroes.

  • Alex Metric: 'Ammunition 3' EP
    13 Mar, 2013 news

It's with no hesitation that UK floor-filler Alex Metric drops an assertive 4/4 thump line to initiate the beautiful, diverse and heavy 'Ammunition 3 EP', his second collection of all new tracks for Skrillex's OWSLA collective. The man can't sit still, his provocative sound leaning heavily on UK garage before slamming headlong into breakbeats while rave synth-work fills in the details, and I'm speaking merely about the final cut of the collection. On the four tracks that comprise his newest, diva vocals flit and build around precise claps, stabs punctuate the low-end, flecks of acid permeate the mix; His amalgam is precise and diverse, tied together with a measured ear and impeccable taste.

Alex is an anomaly in his immediate circle of peers, his tunes awash with appreciation for the historical library of UK electronic music while wholeheartedly borrowing the US's most recent, open-armed approach to bass. It's his keen ability to incorporate and reinterpret the influences of the distant past for a wide-eyed audience, and few are doing it better regardless of context. We've seen the first wave crash on western shores, Alex is dead set on proving there's plenty more in the distance.

  • Dave Clarke: Re-releases 'Wisdom To The Wise' on Boysnoize
    24 Feb, 2013 news

Every self-respecting artist who possesses a discography spanning more than two decades should contain certain career highlights when it comes to music releases. In Dave Clarke's case these highlights are simply too many to mention individually, but it's safe to say that Clarke's 'Red' trilogy is considered to be an undisputed milestone in the techno genre and dance scene across the board. It comes as no surprise that DJ Mag incorporated one of the 'Red's in its 'All Time Techno Top 100' list.

One of those true 'Red' techno classics is 'Wisdom To The Wise', taken from 'Red 2'. A raw, uncompromising tune, still championed by many a DJ today 19(!) years after its first release. Boys Noize snapped up 'Wisdom To The Wise' for a well-deserved re-release on the Boysnoize Records imprint.
Steve Rachmad had the timely idea, as if supernaturally aware of the upcoming reissue, and out of the blue came up with two deep and respectful remixes.

Boys Noize, besides providing an up to date solid remix himself, asked Berlin based Marcel Dettmann to rework this DC classic. In addition, Dave wanted the sub bass master Mr. A. Mochi to compliment the original with a fresh new edit which remains very close to Dave's original version.
Out on Boysnoize Records on the 4th of March 2013.
