Mighty Mouse is a Disco loving, cheese eating psychedelic mouse from Space.
First emerging in the summer of 2009 with his City Reverb remix, Mighty Mouse became an immediate hit with tastemakers Aeroplane who featured it on their mix for Pete Tong and his BBC Radio 1 show. Mighty Mouse quickly followed with remixes for Ali Love, Bent and his astonishing assault on 'Circles' by Detachments. By this time the Mighty Mouse sound was labeled 'nu-disco', drawing influences from house, techno, disco and 80's music whilst also exploring a love of the psychedelic.
Mighty Mouse quickly became an online star thanks to his monthly mixtapes and cheeky re-edits. Too Many Sebastians, and Stoney Roads were the first to pick up on the Mouse sound, however, blog love has been consistent with Mighty Mouse regularly climbing into the Hype Machine Top 10.
The remix work continued to flow; Gorillaz, Fenech-Soler, Shades Of Rhythm, ShyChild and even Robbie Williams' 'Last Days Of Disco' all benefitting from some of the Mouse production magic. These remixes and his rework of Rob Da Bank & Tom Middleton's 'Paganini Rocks' single featuring Au Revoir Simone built the Mighty Mouse reputation with DJs, resulting in highentries on the Buzz, Zzub and Coolcut charts. Along with radio support on the key specialist BBC Radio 1 shows: Annie Mac, Rob Da Bank, Kissy Sell Out, Jaymo & Andy George.
The press picked up on Mighty Mouse thanks to his 'Disco Circus' compilation series. Currently working on volume 3, they combine disco old and new, house, techno and 80's rarities. Mixmag Magazine lauded them putting the first two volumes in their top 10 compilations the year. Features and rave reviews followed in The Times, Guardian, London Metro and all the major dance specialist press.
Fascinate, the first official original single by Mighty Mouse was taken from 'Disco Circus Volume 1'. The next single was an EP of '4 Movements' released on Herve's label, 'Cheap Thrills'. It's success lead to the release of his debut album at the end of 2010. 'Song With No Word', a conceptual album made up of 10 movements, picked up further great press and admirers in Andrew Weatherall and Lemon Jelly, who cited it as one of the best, they'd heard that year.
After the release of club hit 'Disco Battle Weapons (Volume 1)' in 2011, Rob Da Bank asked Mighty Mouse to curate a night at The Jazz Cafe for his Sunday Best Records at HMV's Next Big Thing festival in London.
Since then the touring schedule has been hectic. Starting with a trek around Australia as part of Future Music Festival, with stints DJing at festivals around the UK including Big Chill, Rockness, Electric Picnic and Lovebox. Added to that, Mighty Mouse made his first trip to Ibiza playing for Annie Mac Presents... at Amnesia and then onto Sankeys.
Things don't seem to be slowing up for Mighty Mouse. The next 6 months will see the release of 'Disco Circus Volume 3', a second 'Disco Battle Weapons' single, regular monthly mix charts and a string of new edits including an refresh of his cheeky Abba Midnight Mouse. On the live side, a string of dates across Europe, the first trip to America and a return to Australia are all in the works. A busy little mouse.
