Consisting of three friends, vocalist Russo, Ali and Jay (Yo Video) are the up-until-now mysterious three-piece who reference Aaliyah and Massive Attack as big influences, but refuse to be pigeonholed.
With Jay and Ali having been brought together through similar music tastes and mutual friends, the pair originally hooked up and started making music in early-2010. With a clear plan to try and make music that was "different to what everybody else was doing", 6-months later they enlisted (Ali's old school friend) Russo on vocals and within hours of their first session they'd written four new tracks including 'Fool' - the evolution from bedroom studio sessions to one-to-watch tips was in motion.
Now in early 2011 and with many more tracks in the can, plus an imminent label deal, it's fair to say that Russo's rise has been a quick one so far. With the release of their first single 'Fool' set for early March, it's time for them to step out of their South London-based studio and into the limelight.
Sounds like? A fusing of big pop hooks, soulful female vocals, heavy bass and floor-shaking synths - their sound can only be described, quite genuinely, as unique.
